How the night runs

Set up in the corner, and a crowd gathers.

No screen, no download — just a portrait appearing on paper while your guests watch. It turns out to be its own entertainment.

How live events work
  1. 01

Set up, out of the way

A slim easel or drawing table in the corner you picked. Everything supplied — paper, inks, markers. I need about a metre and good light.

  2. 02

    Portraits, live

Guests sit, or I sketch them where they stand. Each portrait takes five to twelve minutes — loose, fast, flattering, and unmistakably hand-drawn.

  3. 03

    A crowd gathers

The drawing turns into its own entertainment. People watch their friends appear on paper — no screen, no filter, nothing to download.

  4. 04

    They take it with them

Every guest leaves with their portrait in hand, or I keep them for a single bound keepsake. Your call, decided on the planning call.

What's included

A metre of space and good light.

That's all the venue needs to give me. I bring the rest.

  • Easel or drawing table, paper, inks and markers — nothing for you to organise
  • A one-metre corner and decent light is all the venue needs to give me
  • Public liability cover; venues can request the certificate
  • On-brand or wedding colour, agreed on the planning call
  • Social-ready scans so the night keeps going online

Questions

The things people ask first

If yours isn't here, email — it's usually a two-line answer.

How many guests can you draw?

Figure on five to twelve minutes a portrait. Over a five-hour event that's comfortably thirty to forty guests — more with a second artist, which is a popular add-on for big activations.

Live illustration, or painted afterwards?

Both. The magic is live — guests watching themselves appear on paper. For a hero piece or a from-photo commission, I finish in the studio and deliver framed.

Is it digital or on paper?

Paper by default — ink, watercolour and marker, which is what guests love to walk away with. I also draw live on an iPad to a screen for brand activations; that's an add-on.

What do you need from the venue?

About a metre of space with a view of the room and decent light. I bring the easel, table, paper and everything else, and I stay clear of the photographer.

Can it be on-brand?

Yes. For activations I match your palette, draw on branded paper and can work your logo or product into each piece. We lock the look before the day.

Dates

Is your date free?

Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count. You'll get a yes or no the same week, with a quote attached.
